2d & 3D Animation

I honed my skills at University studying hundreds of video shorts and attending independent film festivals. I used hand-drawn, stop-motion and 3D software techniques in combination throughout most of my academic projects.

The clients who call on my animation skills most often are not film production companies but in fact website clients who naturally are looking for their new site to have an edge over the competition. Often the inclusion of a gentle animation is enough to enliven the feel of the pages and make a bold statement without overwhelming or affecting the usability.
The examples you see here are snippets from an ident for a poetry event (above) and a test render of a scene for a short film I am working on.

The 3D example above was produced using Blender. Having become competent in both Maya and 3D Studio Max I have grown to prefer Blender.

The sketchy feel of the animation on the left is due to each frame being hand-drawn. I photographed the individual images and used software to create the moving image which takes on a lively vibration that is typical of this traditional method.
