Concentrating on video work for the foreseeable future this last couple of months will see me making a conceited effort to run down my stock of materials, complete all the unfinished sculptures and prepare them for safe storage and transportation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-178\" title=\"Kate\" src=\"http:\/\/martinjoiner.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Kate.jpg\" alt=\"Kate\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/martinjoiner.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Kate.jpg 450w, https:\/\/martinjoiner.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Kate-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After my disasterous attempt at making a 2 part split mould recast this project went into the cupboard for a long time. \u00a0I now return to work on it. The release agent I had used catastrophically failed, causing the gel coat to bond with the surface.  So here it is after about 5 hours of chipping off bits of resin and wet-n-dry'ing it to bring the surface back to a smooth finish.  I now plan NOT to recast the torso but instead work directly into it.  I shall not give away any more details about this project but I am very excited about it. \u00a0I am even keeping the eventual title a secret,\u00a0referring\u00a0to this as <em>Kate Silverton (working title)<\/em>. \u00a0The next time you see it this will be finished and hopefully on exhibition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My exit from this studio is imminent and I am not planning to rent another place.
